Seriously, Almost Done

I realized that I hadn't posted any pictures of the exterior in quite a while. There are still a few things to do, like some of the window surrounds need to be replaced and the deck and balcony need to be tiled, and of course, my front door needs to be painted red. It's an awesome red from the Disney paint collection called 'Mickey's pants', need I say more?

The tile around this fireplace is a really bright cobalt blue, unfortunately, I am not an experienced enough photographer to make the color show up.

This fireplace has copper and cobalt tiles which form diamond shapes.

This is a corner china hutch that stands between the kitchen and front room.

This is an updated view of the kitchen.

I love my island. I wanted it to look as though it could be a piece of furniture we picked up at an antique store or at an estate sale. It sits up off the floor on 9" feet and is quarter sawn oak with an inset face. Believable?

I also love the harlequin above the range, it is obviously a reoccurring theme through out the house.

One of my other favorite things about the kitchen (and house) is my extra large, Shaw's farm sink. Someday I will post a picture of the expected baby bathing in this sink.

Martha,
I am a friend of Kate's and have been lusting after your gorgeous home. My husband and I are toying with the idea of builting at Traverse also. Who is your builder? How have you liked your builder? His work looks wonderful? but, it also best to hear opinions from the home owners.
I am so excited to see others who have such superb taste and a unique sense of style. Love it.

OK Martha - someday when I am building my own house, can I hire you to design it? I just love love love a lot about your style. I know when I like something, but I can't always find something I like (if that even makes sense). I love how your home is beautiful, but definitely not cookie-cutter. Tim is always telling me to find things that "go-together" not "match". Alas, it will probably be a while and in a different state, but I seriously want you to help me design my home.
